THE MENTAL EDGE
For over 30 years, we have observed so many physically strong competitors who are unable to achieve results beyond a certain level or who were inconsistent, and it has always been crystal clear to us that the reason they experienced this, was more mental than physical. We've learned in so many instances, how our mind can determine the outcome, and a few times - regardless of the physical training.
Over the years, we developed an approach which we've shared to help dozens of students as well as fencers from different clubs, with some in similar training situations, each with different areas to focus. Every person we've shared our approach with, since then, has become top in the nation / world within that same season. Over 90% of the fencers had never achieved results at that level prior, with a few coming to us, having training situations with no other competitive fencers, and similar situations typically seen by most as unfavorable.
This program is only open to a few fencers at a time, every few months.
Despite many of our students developing at extraordinary rates, in our opinion, the most important aspect of our fencing classes for kids is ensuring that fencing is fun, and they benefit from invaluable life lessons for success. As students enjoy fencing, the development that we are accustomed to experiencing, occurs naturally.
Towards this end, we believe in a balanced, comprehensive, and nurturing approach. Xcel Fencing utilizes a unique, pedagogical training system to help each student reach their potential. Students train individually with a coach, as well as in pairs and groups. They receive training plans specifically tailored to their personal needs and goals. We promote a diverse, positive learning environment, and provide the foundation for every student to achieve their personal goals - whether a novice, recreational fencer, or aspiring Olympian.
We recognize that each student has different inherent skills, levels of motivation, and manners of processing information. For this reason, it is not unusual for beginners to receive different training approaches; their training is a direct reflection of their individual needs.
We encourage students to be extremely creative and analytical, as we work to help them discover and develop their unique way of most effectively expressing themselves through fencing.
